I want to take a moment to personally share some exciting news with you. Credit Union 1 (CU1) and MAC Federal Credit Union (MAC) have entered into an agreement to merge, and we’re thrilled about the opportunities this partnership will bring.

As we move forward with this merger, we’ll continue to operate under the Credit Union 1 name, and we’re committed to working together to support and empower more than 112,000 members across 19 branch locations, with over $1.6 billion in assets—all dedicated to enhancing the financial well-being of Alaskans.

Both CU1 and MAC were founded in 1952 and have shared a deep connection to Alaska’s growth—from its rugged beginnings to the vibrant state we know today. While our paths have differed over the years, we share the same core belief that every Alaskan deserves the opportunity to thrive financially. Whether you’re a teacher in Anchorage, a service member at Fort Wainwright, or a family in Fairbanks, Mat-Su, or beyond, we’ve both worked to support your goals, and now, together, we’ll have an even greater ability to serve you.

As part of the CU1 family, you’ll have access to a broader range of financial products and services, including enhanced loan options and cutting-edge digital banking tools. Additionally, our growing network of branches and ATMs will make it even easier to manage your finances, no matter where you are in Alaska.

While we are still working through the necessary steps, including regulatory approvals and member votes, we anticipate that the full integration of our two organizations will take place in 2026. In the meantime, we will continue to provide updates and keep you informed about the process.
