Four students were each awarded $1,500 to pursue education after high school.
The Fairbanks Midnight Sun Run is a uniquely Alaskan event attracting participants from all over the world. The 6.2-mile race begins at 10 PM on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice. The race and other festivities continue until well after midnight.
As a sponsor of the Midnight Sun Run, MAC Federal Credit Union donated $6,000, covering the cost of four scholarships. The recipients were Dakota Brannan (Ben Eielson High School), Daniel Abroamowicz (West Valley High School), Erin Hendricks (Monroe Catholic High School), and Ava Jelinek (West Valley High School). These are high school seniors who have obtained an optimum balance between their academic and athletic achievements and plan to pursue higher education. Winners of the scholarships were announced at the Midnight Sun Run Finish Line ceremonies on Race Day at Pioneer Park. We wish them well in their educational endeavors!
